Key Responsibilities

  • Process and submit prior authorizations for specialty medications, following up with payers to ensure timely approvals.
  • Assist patients in accessing financial assistance, including copay programs, grants, and manufacturer support initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with accreditation standards, collaborating with quality assurance to ensure documentation meets URAC, ACHC, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Handle cold chain packaging and shipping for temperature-sensitive medications, coordinating with pharmacy and clinical teams to ensure accurate delivery.
  • Support patient adherence and care coordination by providing refill reminders, counseling, and communicating with healthcare providers.
  • Coordinate medication inventory, tracking stock levels, shipping, and replenishment to maintain seamless operations.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and clinic staff to facilitate patient care, participate in workflow improvement meetings, and assist in mentoring pharmacy interns and colleagues.
  • Perform clerical duties including updating patient records in EHR, preparing documentation, and maintaining confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI).

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program or meeting Board of Pharmacy requirements is required. Certification as a PHARMC-Certified Pharmacy Technician, PHARMT, or PHARMI Pharmacy Intern is expected. Candidates should have at least one year of relevant experience, demonstrating knowledge of medical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, and pharmacy regulations. Familiarity with multiple pharmacy practice settings, EHR systems, and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential. Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills are required to support clinical and administrative responsibilities effectively.
