About the Role
As a Laundry Attendant at Comfort Inn & Suites, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our guests enjoy clean, fresh, and comfortable linens during their stay. You’ll be responsible for sorting, washing, drying, pressing, and folding clothing and other textile items, as well as removing stains, performing minor sewing duties, and maintaining an updated inventory of laundry supplies. You’ll also interact with guests, anticipating and responding to their queries, concerns, and complaints with a personable and professional demeanor. This role requires attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills, and a knack for customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort, wash, dry, press, and fold clothing and other textile items according to hotel standards.
- Remove stains from items using appropriate procedures and cleaning agents.
- Perform minor sewing duties, such as mending torn items or replacing buttons.
- Track which items belong to which guests, ensuring accurate delivery.
- Keep an updated inventory of laundry detergents, sewing kits, and other supplies.
- Monitor maintenance and repairs on laundering equipment, reporting issues promptly.
- Ensure the laundry facility remains clean, organized, and safe at all times.
- Anticipate and respond to guests’ queries, concerns, and complaints professionally.
- Keep sufficient tokens or change for washing and drying machines, if required.
- Work collaboratively with the housekeeping team to ensure seamless operations.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is advantageous.
- Prior experience in a similar role is preferable.
- Familiarity with cleaning detergents and laundering equipment.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Capacity to lift up to 20 pounds unaided.
- Basic arithmetic skills for tracking inventory and maintaining records.
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Personable disposition with a knack for customer service.
- Available to work shifts and on weekends.
- Strong communication skills are essential when interacting with guests and employees.
- Reading abilities are used often when completing paperwork, logging issues/complaints/requests, and updating information.
- Problem-solving, reasoning, and training abilities are often used.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
