Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be tasked with a wide range of fabrication and repair duties, ensuring all work meets precise specifications. Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Interpreting welding specifications and performing custom fabrication and repair on aluminum, stainless steel, and heavy steel components.
  • Operating gas metal arc welding (GMAW) and oxy-acetylene welding (OAW) equipment for multipass welds, brazing, and soldering tasks.
  • Using oxygen arc cutting (arc-air-AOC) equipment for cutting and gouging.
  • Fitting, brazing, and torch-straightening metal to prepare for welding and assembly.
  • Examining finished welds to ensure they meet all required quality and safety standards.
  • Performing minor maintenance and repairs on welding equipment to keep it in optimal working condition.
  • Safely handling and moving materials weighing up to 45 kg (100 lbs).

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring the following skills and attributes to our team:

  • A secondary school diploma or equivalent, combined with 2 to 3 years of relevant welding/fabrication experience.
  • Proven proficiency in GMAW (MIG) and Oxy-Acetylene (OAW) welding techniques on aluminum, stainless steel, and heavy metals.
  • Experience in custom fabrication and machinery-equipment repair within an industrial setting.
  • The ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must have own reliable transportation, as public transit is not available to our worksite.
  • Excellent physical capability to handle heavy loads and perform demanding tasks while standing for extended periods.
  • Strong personal suitability: must be a resourceful team player with excellent communication skills, flexibility, and a hardworking, organized approach.
