Key Responsibilities

In this key role, you will be responsible for the fabrication of critical mining components from start to finish. Your core duties will include:

  • Performing accurate layouts, cutting, and fitting of heavy plate, primarily quenched and tempered steel, according to complex blueprints.
  • Executing high-quality, all-position flux core arc welding (FCAW) to meet stringent structural and mechanical standards.
  • Utilizing arc-air and oxy-fuel gouging techniques for preparation, repair, and component modification.
  • Operating and maintaining key shop equipment, including brake presses and saws, as required for project fabrication.
  • Contributing to process improvement initiatives by suggesting enhancements in tooling, fixturing, or workflow to increase quality and efficiency.
  • Ensuring all work is completed with a strong focus on safety, precision, and adherence to project specifications and timelines.

Qualifications

To be successful in this advanced fabrication role, you must possess:

  • Proven, hands-on experience in the fabrication of heavy mining equipment or similarly demanding structural components.
  • Expert proficiency in reading and interpreting detailed fabrication blueprints and drawings.
  • Advanced skills in all-position flux core (FCAW) welding and experience with arc-air/oxy-fuel gouging.
  • Demonstrable accuracy in layout and fitting, with an understanding of working with quenched and tempered plate.
  • A highly ambitious, self-motivated work ethic with the ability to work independently and manage your workflow.
  • Experience operating brake presses and saws is a strong asset.
