Key Responsibilities
- Prepare mise en place before each shift so that all stations are fully stocked and organised for seamless service
- Deliver a delighted dining experience by anticipating guest needs and responding with warmth and efficiency
- Create special moments for guests, such as celebrating birthdays or anniversaries with thoughtful touches
- Provide recommendations on menu items using strong product knowledge, including ingredients and preparation methods
- Meet and greet guests in a professional and friendly manner, making them feel welcomed from the moment they arrive
- Maintain the neatness and cleanliness of the restaurant throughout service, including tables, chairs, and service areas
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure accurate order timing and special dietary requests are handled properly
Qualifications
Experience in Chinese cuisine is highly preferred but not mandatory for entry level waitstaff. You need excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with guests from around the world. A good command of spoken English is essential, and proficiency in Mandarin or Cantonese is a strong advantage. You must be passionate about customer service and the hospitality industry. Candidates with less experience will be considered for Waiter or Waitress positions, while those with more experience may be hired as Captain. No formal degree is required, but prior experience in a fine dining or hotel restaurant is valuable. You should be comfortable standing for long hours and working in a fast paced environment.
