Neighbourhood Better Living Belleville is currently hiring a permanent part-time Laundry Aide for our brand-new 160-bed long-term care home, opening spring 2026. Key Responsibilities
Laundry And Linen Services
- Provide comprehensive linen and personal clothing support services, ensuring proper collection, sorting, processing, distribution, and inventory management of all textiles.
- Load and unload commercial washers and dryers, selecting appropriate cycles, detergents, and temperatures for different fabric types and soil levels.
- Sort clean linens and personal clothing onto carts for efficient distribution and delivery to resident rooms and care units.
- Assist in maintaining, cleaning, and inspecting laundry services equipment, reporting any operational concerns or maintenance needs promptly.
- Audit resident clothing and facility linens for proper labelling, wear and tear, or damage; perform minor repairs as needed and discard worn items following documentation procedures.
- Support the lost and found system for misplaced personal clothing, helping residents and families feel secure in their belongings.
Resident Support And Care Collaboration
- Assist with meal service as required, ensuring residents’ individual nutritional needs are met with patience and respect.
- Porter residents and assist with safe lifts and transfers, working collaboratively with nursing and personal support teams.
- Respond to resident call lights and obtain appropriate assistance as needed.
- Intervene promptly to ensure resident safety when potential hazards or needs arise.
Quality, Compliance And Administration
- Support the implementation and maintenance of quality risk management activities, including participation in environmental services audits.
- Assist with effective and efficient procurement and supply control procedures, completing all required environmental services documentation.
- Inspect linen inventory regularly, discarding worn items and maintaining accurate records of discards and replacements.
- Participate as a member of assigned committees, attend meetings and education sessions as scheduled.
- Communicate with related long-term care health agencies to promote coordination and planning of services as needed.
- Ensure compliance with organizational standards, collective agreement provisions, and all relevant regulations, legislation, and strategic initiatives.
- Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of commercial laundry equipment, best practices, and infection control procedures.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong relationship-building abilities.
- Proficiency with computerized documentation systems for inventory tracking, incident reporting, and quality audits.
- Satisfactory vulnerable sector check and TB test prior to start date.
- Physically capable of standing for extended periods, lifting, bending, and manoeuvring laundry carts weighing up to 50 pounds.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in long-term care, retirement residence, or hospital laundry services.
- Familiarity with RIA standards, Ministry of Health requirements, or other long-term care regulatory frameworks.
- Experience participating in quality improvement initiatives, audits, or committee work.
- A genuine, patient approach to working with older adults and individuals with complex care needs.
Schedule:
- Permanent part-time status.
- Specific shift details to be confirmed; evening and weekend availability may be required.
- Pre-opening phase may involve training, orientation, and process development activities prior to resident admission.
