Key Responsibilities
- Feed and Tend Animals: Perform livestock feeding and monitor animal health daily.
- Diagnose Livestock Health Issues: Keep an eye out for signs of disease or health problems in livestock.
- Clean Pens, Barns, and Barnyards: Disinfect pens and barns, clean stables, and maintain clean work areas.
- Clear and Collect Debris: Remove brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas.
- Handle and Mark Livestock: Assist with handling animals and marking livestock as proof of ownership.
- Operate and Maintain Farm Machinery: Use and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including feeding and watering systems, farm trucks, and hand tools.
- Organize Tasks: Plan and organize daily tasks to accomplish work efficiently.
- Maintain Work Records and Logs: Keep accurate records of activities, animal health, and equipment maintenance.
- Perform General Farm Duties: Assist with other tasks as needed, including organizing and directing construction of decks and retaining walls.
- Clean and Lubricate Machinery: Regularly clean and lubricate equipment to keep it in good working order.
- Detect Disease and Health Problems: Monitor crops, livestock, and poultry for signs of disease.
Work Environment
- Outdoors: Work in all weather conditions hot, dusty, wet, and odours are part of the job.
- Livestock: Daily contact with beef cattle.
- Farm Setting: Work in a rural farm environment with dirt, dust, and varying conditions.
- Dirty Work: Be prepared for hands-on, physical work that can get messy.
Requirements
- Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required.
- Experience: Experience is an asset, but we’re willing to train the right person.
- Criminal Record Check: Required for this position.
- Transportation: Own transportation is necessary as public transportation is not available.
- Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Physical Requirements
