About the Farm
We operate a diverse farming operation including beef cattle ranching, feedlots, grain farming (wheat and other grains), oilseed farming, hay farming, and livestock combination farming. Our work environment is outdoors, hands-on, and varied you’ll experience all weather conditions, from extreme cold to hot, dusty days, and work closely with livestock. Key Responsibilities
- Handle and Feed Livestock: Perform daily livestock feeding, monitor the calving process, weaning, and prepare cattle for exhibition.
- Treat Li-vestock Health Issues: Monitor animal health and treat issues as needed.
- Operate and Maintain Farm Machinery: Use and maintain tractors, combine harvesters, farm trucks, forage equipment, haying equipment, loaders, manure spreaders, planting equipment, swathers, tillage equipment, skidsteers, forklifts, and hand tools.
- Maintain Records and Reports: Keep livestock performance records, quality control and production records, work records and logs, and write daily basic progress reports.
- Clean and Maintain Facilities: Clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens. Set and monitor water lines, air flow, and temperature in barns and pens.
- Ensure Safety and Biosecurity: Follow farm safety and bio-security procedures, handle hazardous products and storage, and perform preventive maintenance.
- Organize Tasks: Plan and organize daily tasks to accomplish work efficiently.
- Train Staff: Assist in training staff in job duties, sanitation, and safety procedures.
- Perform General Farm Duties: Weeding, mixing fertilizer, and other tasks as needed.
Work Environment
- Outdoors: Work in all weather conditions extreme cold, hot, dusty, wet, and noisy.
- Livestock: Daily contact with beef cattle and other animals.
- Confined Spaces and Dangerous Areas: Be aware of surroundings and follow safety protocols.
- Remote Rural Location: Staff accommodation is available and provided.
- Dirty Work: Be prepared for hands-on, physical work that can get messy.
Requirements
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of relevant farming experience.
- Criminal Record Check and Medical Exam: Required for this position.
- Transportation: Own transportation is necessary as public transportation is not available. Willingness to relocate for this position is required.
- Language: Must meet the language requirements listed in the job posting.
- Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in Canada.
