Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be crucial to the safe and efficient movement of freight. Your key duties will involve:
- Operating freight trains in strict accordance with all network rules, safety protocols, and SSR procedures.
- Conducting thorough pre-operational checks to prepare and provision locomotives and wagons for service.
- Performing in-field minor fault finding and basic rectifications to ensure operational continuity.
- Assisting rolling-stock maintainers with validation checks and maintenance tasks, with a particular focus on brake system integrity.
- Maintaining clear, professional communication and demonstrating a strong customer service ethos in all interactions.
- Upholding our absolute commitment to a zero-harm safety culture through meticulous risk management and adherence to processes.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must possess and demonstrate the following:
- A Certificate IV in Rail Operations (TLI42621 or equivalent).
- Current, or previous, NSW Safeworking qualifications with verifiable competency.
- Evidence of your route knowledge and operational experience.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Category 1 Rail Safety Worker’s medical assessment.
- A current National Police Check or willingness to undergo one.
- Strong literacy, numeracy, and comprehension skills for interpreting procedures and documentation.
- A proven, unwavering commitment to safety and a professional, reliable attitude.
