Farm Worker Needed In Nepean, ON, Canada

About the Farm

We operate a diverse fruit and vegetable farming operation, including other vegetables and melon farming (except potato). Our work environment is outdoors, hands-on, and varied you’ll experience all weather conditions, from hot sun to dusty days, and work closely with the land and crops. Key Responsibilities

  • Plant, Cultivate, and Irrigate Crops: Assist with planting, maintaining crops throughout the growing season, and operating irrigation systems.
  • Harvest Crops: Participate in hand harvesting vegetables and fruits, ensuring crops are collected at the right time.
  • Grade and Sort Produce: Grade vegetables and fruits into different grades according to size, shape, colour, and volume to fetch high prices in the market. Divide fresh harvested produce into marketable and non-marketable lots.
  • Pack Fruits and Vegetables: Pack produce carefully for market distribution.
  • Apply Fertilizers and Spray Crops: Assist with fertilizing and spraying crops as needed.
  • Apply Hoeing Techniques: Perform manual hoeing between rows to control weeds.
  • Clean Crops and Work Areas: Clean crops, greenhouses, and work areas to maintain hygiene and organization.
  • Clear Fields: Remove wood, stones, and debris from fields.
  • Cut Agricultural Crops: Assist with cutting crops as part of the harvest process.
  • Weeding: Perform manual weeding to maintain crop health.
  • Examine Product Quality: Inspect produce for quality and readiness for the market.

Work Environment

  • Outdoors: Work in all weather conditions hot, dusty, noisy, and dirty.
  • Farm Setting: Work on a fruit and vegetable combination farm with other vegetables and melon farming.
  • Physical Work: Be prepared for hands-on, physical work that can be demanding.
  • Seasonal: This is a seasonal position with varied hours based on crop cycles.

Requirements

  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required.
  • Experience: Will train no previous experience necessary.
