Key Responsibilities
- Hire and train cleaning staff, arranging for ongoing training to ensure all team members are equipped with the skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and effectively.
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of cleaning workers, assigning tasks and ensuring work is completed efficiently and to standard.
- Inspect sites and facilities regularly to ensure safety and cleanliness standards are met, identifying areas for improvement and addressing issues promptly.
- Recommend or arrange for additional services required such as painting, repair work, renovations, or replacement of furnishings and equipment.
- Maintain financial records and receive payment for specialized cleaning jobs as needed.
- Assist cleaners in performing duties when additional support is required, stepping in to help during busy periods.
- Coordinate work activities with other departments to ensure seamless operations across the facility.
- Establish work schedules for cleaning staff, managing shifts across early morning, day, evening, night, and weekend hours.
- Supervise a team of three to four cleaning staff members.
Qualifications
A secondary school graduation certificate is required. Candidates must have seven months to less than one year of experience in the cleaning industry. Strong client focus, dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, flexibility, and reliability are essential. Candidates must be authorized to work in Canada and meet the language requirements listed in the posting. The ability to work in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines, repetitive tasks, and physically demanding conditions is required. Candidates must be comfortable working at heights, in wet or damp conditions, around odours, in dusty environments, outdoors, in cold or refrigerated spaces, in hot conditions, and in dirty settings. Physical demands include manual dexterity, a combination of sitting, standing, walking, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling, and handling heavy loads.
