Key Responsibilities
As a Compost Crew Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient collection of organic waste. Your core duties will include:
- Safely operating a 16-20 ft. box truck or larger on a designated local route, with no overnight travel required.
- Following a Monday-Friday schedule that typically starts between 4-6 AM and finishes between 12-4 PM, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries.
- Safely handling and loading food scraps and organic materials with the assistance of a Route Helper.
- Utilizing our state-of-the-art route management technology to navigate and complete tasks efficiently.
- Conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintaining accurate logs.
- Adhering to all DOT regulations, company safety policies, and maintaining a clean driving record.
- Providing professional, courteous service as a representative of Compost Crew to our enthusiastic customers.
Qualifications
We are looking for reliable individuals who meet specific safety and physical standards. To qualify for this role, you must have:
- At least one (1) year of recent, full-time driving experience in a DOT-regulated environment (driving a 16-20 ft. box truck or larger within the last 3 years).
- A valid U.S. driver’s license in good standing with a clean driving record.
- The ability to obtain a DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening (company-paid).
- Must be at least 21 years of age and have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- The physical capability to lift up to 60 pounds repeatedly (up to 200 times per day) and get in and out of the truck frequently.
- Reliable attendance for an early morning start time and access to reliable transportation to our Upper Marlboro, MD facility (public transit is not available at 4 AM).
- A positive attitude and willingness to handle organic materials as part of our important recycling mission.
