Sotera Health is seeking a detail-oriented Operator to join our team and ensure the safe and efficient sterilization of medical products. In this role, you will monitor and control system operations, including pressure, temperature, and humidity, to guarantee high-quality outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor system operations by observing pressure, temperature, and relative humidity readings on charts or computer monitors.
- Adjust valves and controls to maintain safe and efficient equipment operation.
- Observe sterilizers and auxiliary equipment, detect malfunctions, and assist with repairs when needed.
- Document and record all process readings accurately.
- Report damaged products to the Shift Supervisor or Process Supervisor.
- Communicate system issues to Maintenance Supervisors or Technicians for timely resolution.
- Perform daily and weekly preventative maintenance tasks and assist Maintenance as required.
- Handle chemicals used in processing safely and in compliance with established procedures and regulations.
- Participate in plant safety committees and adhere to all safety policies and regulations.
- Assist with additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
- Oversee and guide the work of Process Assistant Operators to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Six months to one year of experience in a sterilization or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
- Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Willingness to work established shifts, including overtime as needed.
- Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds and perform repetitive bending and lifting motions over time.
- Forklift driving experience required.
- Computer skills are desirable.
Special Requirements
- Experience with EO sterilization is a plus.
- Must be medically approved for respirator use.
- Ability to tolerate high-temperature and high-humidity conditions (up to 120°F and 60% RH for 20 minutes).
